FAQ
What is the hardest bamboo floor we can buy?
Strand Woven is the hardest bamboo flooring you can buy; it also earns a reputation as the most durable bamboo flooring available. Premium Green Strand Woven bamboo boasts a Janka rating of 3000 PSI, making it almost twice as hard as a typical solid bamboo floor.
What is a Janka Hardness Rating?
The Janka hardness rating measures a wood's resistance to denting and wear. Specifically, it measures the force required to embed a small steel ball halfway into the surface of the wood. The Janka rating is typically used to compare the relative hardness of different wood species. A higher Janka rating indicates greater hardness and durability. The Janka rating is commonly used to evaluate the suitability of a particular wood species for use in flooring, furniture, and other applications where durability is important.

How often should I have my carpet cleaned?
To maintain the warranty for residential carpets, it is necessary to have them professionally cleaned at least once every 18 months using products, equipment, or systems that have the CRI SOA (Carpet & Rug Institute’s Seal of Approval). It may be advisable to have carpets cleaned more frequently, depending on factors such as the level of foot traffic, the size of the family, soil conditions around the home, and other circumstances.
Why buy a laminate floor instead of a real thing?
Laminate flooring is renowned for its robustness and ease of upkeep, mainly due to the presence of an aluminum-oxide wear layer, which is one of the most durable substances available. As a result, it can withstand heavy usage, including pets, children, and high foot traffic. Another benefit of laminate flooring is its ability to closely resemble other hard surfaces but at a significantly lower cost and without any drawbacks associated with natural materials.
I know that water is a concern for laminate flooring. Does this mean that I can't put laminate flooring in my bathroom?
Laminate flooring is best suited for almost any room of a house. However, it is sensitive to excess moisture, so if you are planning to use laminate flooring in your bathroom, you must take extra precautions to prevent water from contacting the flooring's core material, such as sealing around the floor's perimeter with caulk or sealant. It is recommended to consult with a retail flooring specialist regarding the installation process and the proper care and maintenance of your laminate flooring.
How do I clean my laminate floor?
To prevent the accumulation of dirt and grit that can scratch or dull the floor finish, it is necessary to sweep, dust, or vacuum the floor regularly using the hard floor attachment (avoid the beater bar). For difficult spots like oil, paint, markers, lipstick, ink, or tar, use acetone/nail polish remover on a clean white cloth and wipe the area with a damp cloth to eliminate any remaining residue. Use cleaning products specifically designed for laminate floor care to clean the floor periodically. For spots like candle wax or chewing gum, solidify the area with ice, gently scrape with a plastic scraper like a credit card, be cautious not to scratch the floor's surface, and wipe clean with a damp cloth. In very sandy areas such as beach homes, it may be necessary to dust-mop or vacuum the floor more frequently.
What's the difference between porcelain and ceramic tile?
Porcelain and ceramic tiles are used as flooring materials but have distinct differences. Porcelain tiles are made from denser clay fired at higher temperatures, making them resistant to scratches, stains, and moisture. As a result, they have a low water absorption rate and come in various colors, patterns, and finishes. Ceramic tiles are made from a clay mixture fired at lower temperatures, making them less dense and more vulnerable to water absorption, stains, and scratches. They are often glazed and come in different designs and finishes. While porcelain tiles are more durable and versatile, suitable for high-traffic areas and outdoor use, ceramic tiles are less expensive and appropriate for less demanding environments.
